Mark That is quite large! How tall is it? I assume it is primarily worm
gears for the joints right?

DW is about 15" tall and somwhere in the neighborhood of 2' long.  (nose to
tail)  DW is easily my largest mech yet, though Titan was just barely taller.
The Legs are mostly static, with a double worm gear setup in the hip to
allow for angling the body to a desired angle.  With the hip kickout the
body can change angle dramatically.

Wow. I love the detail in the head. Also the
powerplant section is really quite nice. Not alot of people go to the
trouble to add powerplants.

Thanks, I'm proud of my engines.  I figured that big mechs deserve big
powerplants.

I will say one thing though, Raven looks alot
nicer then he sounds in the story. LOL :^) Maybe he has that grin because he
just turned five mechs into cans of spam!

Yep, ironic isn't it.  You just can't tell a book by it's cover.  Raptor is
his name btw.

The guns oh my! Those gats rock.
Do they have any freedom to move, or are they stationary?

The gats can elevate (curtosy of worm gear arraingment) and turn.  they
actually have a great deal of movement.

The lasers look
awesome too, but they don't compare to those gats! Finally the lasers on the
underbelly is a great idea! With a mecha that big I guess you would be doing
alot of shooting from there.

Credit to my wife there, I was going to put sensors down there but she
suggested belly turrets.  God I love that woman!

I posted this on the ol' Mechastruct for you too.

footnote: Have you seen that new Mechwarrior game for the X-Box? That game
look soooooo sweet!

Heh, yep.  I call playing mw games, "research."  Where do you think I got
the idea for brute's thighs?

Thanks Tony!  Good luck on the finals!

Mark

(...) Wow. I think Tony needs to reclassify the categories to 12 inches and lower because the big mechs are REALLY BIG. :) Nice job, btw, it reminds me of one of the baddies in Einhander. (...) Most definitely. (...) Wow. Very very cool. This is my (...) (22 years ago, 17-Dec-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)
