Slightly on the obsessive side, though, it seems like it has no
defense on the sides, rear, or top.  On the whole though, the design is
interesting, the details superb, and the photography perfect.

Well, if you actually read the write-up and looked closer at the pics, you'd
see it has other defences, as follows:

I looked at the pictures and read the description; it seems like it would
be better as a spacecraft or artillery or something like that.  It is too tall
to use the terrain as cover, and it seems like it would be rather easy to tip
over.  For the record, I think it looks great, it just doesn't say "tank" to
me.

1) Composite armour & ERA throughout

Armor doesn't do much other than delay death if the defender can't fight back.
A Fast Attack Vehicle should easily be able to stay out range of the tank's
guns.

2) Large heat sink to dissipate heat (to counter heat-seaking ATGMs)

And with no defenses on the back, it could easily be damaged or destroyed.

3) 2 launcher tubes on each side capable of shooting out ECMs, flares, and
smoke grenades

It helps, but there still are no dedicated rear or flank firing defences, not
even machineguns.

4) Room for 6 troops on each side, to defend flanks

Well, the first well placed shot will add a lot of red coloring to the side of
the vehicle.  ;)

Okay, thanks for clearing that up for me Jeff. I therefore apoligize to Jonathan, I misinterpreted your post. Sorry man. Next time, I'll make sure to put more point-defence weapons on my tank models. Thanks again Jeff. ;-D (...) -snipped a lot of (...) (22 years ago, 22-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)
