I remember seeing this before but I wasn't very keen on the use of the SW
canopy (I just don't like that one) and I also thought the color scheme
could have been better utilized (colors are normally a make-or-break point
for me).

How could I have utilized the colors better?  Solid red for the body?  More
solids?  Too many colors?  What do you mean?

Uh, well... I'll give it a shot.  Please keep in mind that I'm not trashing
your MOC, It's just that I think the colors could have been handled better
on this one.  It really all depends on what you were going for.  If you were
just going for application/function of ideas, then all is well.  However, if
you were going for something that would please the eye, then purhaps my
suggestions here could help a little, in my own opinion of course.

Let's start with the dark grey stuff.  Tossing a dark grey tile or plate
here and there works against the dark grey weapons, all those dark grey bits
just sort of draws the eye away from the larger dark grey splotches.

Likewise, the red does the same.  In the case of the red however, what might
work better is this:  you already had the bottom of the main body in red, so
using red on the backs of the arms and legs may have been feasible.  Or
simply using less red could also help.

It just sort of seems that your dark greys and reds are "pepperd" throughout
the mech, causing some "business" to distract the eye.

Highlight colors seem to work best when used in moderation, or bunched up is
specific locations (knowledge of which locations probably only comes with
practice).

Mladen's use of color is really something to study.  Look at any of his
recent MOCs from the past few months and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Also, Paul Hartzog does well with colors.

For help in utilizing those greys, take a real good look at Mark Sandlin's
many grey ships.

Well, that's the best I can do, I suppose.  Hope it helps.

(...) Sure did. And don't sweat my feelings. I want honest feedback. It makes me better. (I survived the UW creative writing program, I can take feedback.) You're absolutely right. I'm much more functional in my design. My use of color is almost (...) (23 years ago, 19-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

(...) Thanks (...) Again, thanks, This project started with those chunks. (...) It does stay up. It works like this: It's narrow technic beams cris-crossed held together with friction pins with axles at the top and bottom. Now, when the turret is (...)
