This is really fabulous.
It's always astonishing somehow when
the "legoness" of a model disappears when you look at it -
the whole becomes more than the sum of the parts
as your brain integrates the myriad tiny shapes into a
larger design in an instant, sort of the reverse
thought process of the model's builder, transforming
an imagined form into a conglomeration of tiny parts
that approximate it. And one's ability to
select and combine lego parts to achieve a desired visual
effect only seems to improve over time.
Makes one very optimistic about the future
of lego modelmaking, so much more cool stuff to come.

| Bryce, This is exactly how I feel about this model-- the organic quality is astonishing, given the "limitations" (obviously being overcome almost daily in this group) of the medium. I feel as though I could get lost in the layers of detail, and yet (...) (23 years ago, 12-Sep-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)
