I agree, the tabs do add a presence to the head by framing it.
I would have liked to modelled the tabs in but at the size I built this
thing there were serious real estate issues on the model. Internally every
stud needed to be used to make everything fit. So unfortunately out went
the tabs only to be replaced by a technic pins. The tail fins are totally
wrong but you just can't make them fold over each other at this size.
This was my small scale attempt at building a valkyrie. I wanted a size
that could hold it's own weight and still be small enough that I could make
copies without it getting ridiculously expensive to make.
I plan to do a larger design that will be more faithful to details,
proportion and actual transformation. The only thing keeping me from
starting is figuring out a good system to support limbs with a model that is
2' tall. Rigidity is really important with any model that transforms and
size becomes your enemy.
