Hi, I am about to embark on building my very first Mecha and intend to
incorporate the Mindstorms RCX unit (with motors/light sensor/etc.).

Yes very cool.

Thanks - let's wait and see how I go.

Does anyone have some advice they can offer? Should a Mech use bi-ped
walking or wheels?

um,.......what part of the Mech do you want the 3 motor ports to control?
how dow you want the sensors to fit into the design?

I guess that primarily two of the motors would handle the legs or wheels for
direction.
Next I'd have at least one motor to raise or lower arms.
Of course I hadn't forgotten the head - so I'd use a 2nd RCX to add MORE power.
The Head would rotate and incorporate a Light Sensor for searching and
direction. The Head would probably use the MicroMotor for rotation.
And then there's the Touch Sensors which would probably be part of the
feet/legs to deal with objects. :-)
Sound like I'm on the right track? Sounds like this may end up bigger than
Ben Hur.

Are there some sites around that provide some building instructions to
assist me?

Are you familiar with these?

Thanks!
