the creative genius of TLC.  Please.

I think you're being a little overly paranoid.  There are only so many ways
to
model a human-like hip given the parts selection in LEGO- and since they Life
on Mars mech uses click-hinges, where Colin's hip uses Technic parts, I'd go
so
far as to say that it's entirely possible that the designer never even saw
Colin's hip design, let alone consciously ripped it off.
