Yeah, the turnout was about twice what I was expecting/hoping for. And the Mechs were about six times more spiffy.

By the way, I propably missed this, but why doesn’t the guy who places second get any prize? I figure this must be quite a bummer for him, seeing as the final grades are so close...

It’s a strange tradition that I’ve always used for my contests at ReasonablyClever.com. I think it came out of a desire to use that Willy Wonka soundbite (“You get NOTHING! You LOSE! Good DAY, sir!”). Yeah, it sucks to get 2nd in my contests, but at least I warn people up front. ;)

(P.S; great work on the site, too. it’s great to see where everyone ranks on the different requirements, and the judges’ comments are very insightful. Give ‘em a big hug from me.)

I’ll be sure to pass that along! I added a “comments” field to the voting spreadsheet almost as an afterthought...one judge didn’t have anything to add, and one judge thought it was a mandatory thing.

It was certainly interesting to watch the rankings change as each judge mailed me the form...many of the mid-field entries were top placers at one point. (Believe it or not, the Up-Rev wasn’t even in the top 10 for a while)
