I like Heavy Gear, because it has very utilitarian designs, like real military
vehicles and mecha will look like in the "near future". Of course, the same can
be said for Gundam, but they are more like what military vehicles and mecha
will look like in the "distant future". Still, I just love adding external fuel
tanks to everything I build, it just makes things look more realistic.

--- Styles ---

Heavy Gear:

- small head, one eye
- bulky shoulders, arms and legs
- rear mounted wheels/treads on feet
- huge, conical "V-engines" on back
- rather squat appearance
- few internal weapons, sometimes...
- can work in space, with modification

Gundam:

- huge feet
- long legs
- a lot of internal weapons, sometimes...
- more proportionate head, two eyes
- huge, outward-extending, "wing-like" shoulders
- unproportionate torso, compared to legs
- tall, humanoid appearance
- space friendly; lots of thrusters
- forward opening torso hatch (I think?)

Patlabor:

- small head, one eye, and usually with antenna
- forward opening torso hatch, on most models
- very quick and agile
- no lasers, except on military models
- no internal weapons
- not too tall, 4+ metres tall
- only work on ground, and sometimes underwater
- kind of utilitarian
- use mostly machine-guns, shotguns, military use missiles

Please correct any false statements.

Well an awesome model deserves an awesome reponse, IMHO! ;-)

When I said nice colour sceme, I meant it was excellent how you followed the
real Gundam colour sceme. Plus, I'm amazed when anyone makes something out • of
so much white, since I could barely build a large mecha foot with the
non-existent white I have in my collection.

I seem to have lots of white bricks, owing mostly to Classic Space of the
80's and a fre of the 1200 pc tubs. I am really lacking in white plates. I
very nearly exhausted my supply with Colossus.

As for Karim's ammo "belt" and Colin's hands, I think you did an awesome job
of
"expanding" and utilizing their idea's, very nice.

Thanks. :^)

BTW I've tried so many times to make mecha with opening missile bays and • etc.
but have never once been successful. A' dang, back to the drawing boards!

Well you kinda have to build big if you want internal bays. Still, Pat J's
Spider mecha has some good examples of opening missile racks.

Again, amazing mecha! Makes me wish I had Throwbot joints, and a better • sense
of Gundam mecha styles (I lean more towards Heavy Gear and Patlabor)! ;-)

Nothin' wrong with that. Those are great styles, too. I think I lean toward
Gundam because I'm not as good at making Heavy Gear and Patlabor-style
stuff. :^D  Maybe we should each try the other and see what we come up with.
