Eek! ground force I mean. Damn that was some bad writings...
OK let me do some LEGO talk. After seeing the contest picture I decided to
build the unit as close to it as possible in a realistic near-future style.
I built the curvey part of the "head" first, since I expect it to be the most
difficult part. It turns out the leg part is more difficult since there are a
lot of weight even for 4 legs.
There are two features I have attempted to add but dropped due to the relatively
small size of the model - a balancer which let the upper body slide left or
right depends on the weight distribution, and retractable wheels in the legs.
The modular weapon configuration is inspired by M113 APC and RTS game Earth
2160. I planned to add a recon-sniper configuration, but I ran out of time and
it don't make too much sense for a heavy mecha.
Overall it has been a fun project. The only painful part is editing those noise
and stuck pixels from my plain old 2Mp camera. We should do this once per year.
