Greetings! This post marks several firsts for me, my first LUGNET post, my
first Brickshlef folder, and my first mech! Anyway, here is Gladius, a
heavy assault mech:
Anyway, hope you like it. Comments and criticism welcome!
?Cha! Is there any doubt I would? Rock on Tim, way to come out with a bang!
Thanks!

You got a great mechwarrior feel here. The colors are good and the scheme of
it feels goooooooood. I kind of feel the radar dish inbetween the missle
racks is a little corny, but thats me.
I guess I can see what you mean. On the plus side, this Mech receives the SciFi
Channel!
The size of weapons to mech is kind of funny too. Almost cartoony.
Yeah, you got me there. Originally this mech was not going to be nearly this
big. The original leg joints used doubled click joints, however this proved to
be woefully inadequate when my early torso collapsed the legs to the ground! I
ordered 4 gear packs
from LEGO and redesigned the legs with geared joints. I then had to redesign
the torso to fit the new larger legs, but I was rather fond of the gun designs
and decided to leave them as-is. I do agree they look a bit small compared to
the rest of the mech. I think this mech would definitely look good with some
huge oversized guns, maybe Ill retrofit it later.
little barrels and huge ammo drum (though I can understand it),
Thats actually supposed to be somewhat
realistic. Gatling guns
just devour ammo.
skinny arm mounts to larger weapons on arms. I thought the body and hips
were really well done. The mulit color grills/housings on missle launchers
were well done.
Legs, tres cool, even if the feet are a little flat.
The version of the
Mad Cat I was
looking at also has fairly flat feet, thats what I based it on. The feet are
definitely flatter than you usually see, although I kinda like how they turned
out.
I did like the use of the tubing on the cannon. Nice touch!
Thanks, although pneumatic tubing does not like to be coiled that tight!
Though if you added just a bit of greebling
here and there, this MOC would rock that much more.
I did try to greeble the legs a bit, although I agree the torso is much too
smooth. I will work on this next time.
I am particuarily fond of your ankle to foot solution. Way to go.
Thanks, I came up with this as a result of trying to keep the foot as flat as
possible!
Looks like a fun model and fairly playable if I dont miss my guess.
Yes, although the waist joint is much too fragile. I would have used a technic
turntable but I dont have any more! Another planned retrofit.
Im getting excited, two awesome mechwarrior chicken walker mechs in
as many days! Rock on man! Spotlighted.
Thanks again!
