In lugnet.build.mecha, Brian Cooper wowed LUGNETters:
Does Bo know Monstrobo? (Squish) Monstrobos toe knows Bo. Lets set it to
music:
Whos bigger than a breadbox? Built of giant plates of steel, With guns in every cranny; Who gets mail in his heel? Hes the anti-robo robo -- Yo! Monstrobo! Go Monstrobo! Go!
For those not familiar with Brians inspiration, heres a photo of a Giant Robo
toy with its weapons deployed:
http://www.japanesetoylink.com/Yamato/Sci-Fi/YAM-GTR002.htm. (Thank you,
Google Image Search.)
I dig the hanging chains. This mechs got, as one says, bling. Giant steel
industrial oily bling.
Great photos, Brian -- except for the black fists against the black background.
Maybe some special photos of just those, against white?
The GRD might not be posable, but it needs a stop-motion film built around it.
Workers scurrying, mech bay gantries retracting, weapons deploying, mail getting
delivered; music pounding in the background. With Photoshopped glow-glare to
the eyes. (No shiny metal sparkles, though -- this is definitely a bot with a
matte finish.)

It was all about ... gigantic concealed weapons ...

Okay, now somebody needs to build a replica of the Big O, complete with Final
Resort Secret Chest Cannon of Single-Shot Ultimate Doom. (If youve seen it,
you know.) I had considered doing a similar pop-out weapons version Megas (from
the Cartoon Network series Megas XLR, ie, Chicks dig giant robots), but
couldnt decide which weapons to include -- but it then became obvious that the
creators themselves dont care, since the mech exhibits a different arsenal
every episode. The BGY-11 (of Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot) has the same
condition.

I made mine proportioned somewhere between the original Giant Robo from the (...) (20 years ago, 6-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

| (URL) used a lot of new construction techniques for this evil, corrupted version of Giant Robo. It's an anti-robo robo, a Monstrobo. It was all about rounded shapes and gigantic concealed weapons - so giant that it looks like they couldn't possibly (...) (20 years ago, 3-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mecha) !!
