I like the brown/orange scheme, and the finned toes, using the orange 4x2 mudguard. And the hip missile racks (the over-the-shoulder racks are more ordinary). The 1x1 tooth plates give its face a quizzical expression.

Critique IMHO: in these photos and poses, the colors blur together. The photos are dull; they need better lighting to look good (I assume that dull-taupe bg is really white?) -- or a longer exposure from a stable vantage (eg, tripod). (I happen to own an Olympus digicam with full manual adjustments, but others may need to be more ingenious in their photo studios.)

Hmm -- it’s not just the pose; the profusion of angles and disparate slope bricks make it look unintegrated. It lacks unified contours. It can’t be drawn with simple lines, and richochets off its armor would be murder. The white hand-hinges on the arm-fingers draw too much attention to the knuckles. (Brown or black would work better.) The splay of the hip missle racks make it look bottom-heavy, with narrow shoulders. (The shoulderpads don’t count, visually.) And the 1x2 grill tiles just add more visual noise.

It probably looks better in person.

An old frame. The same frame I used to build Tatsumaki. http://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=111164

As usual, black LEGO doesn’t photograph well. (What tricks did TLC use with Blacktron?) But wow, it’s sure posable and easily balanced -- hand stand, natch.

(...) Hey, I know the mech and the pics suck. I am so glad you pointed that out. And you were so descriptive too. By the way, the mech is orange and grey, not brown and orange. Adjust your monitor and you may see that. Wonderful!!! Thanks for the (...) (19 years ago, 6-Jan-05, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)
