Tribute to Masamune Shirow —David Rabadan
As a fan of Masamune Shirow and Appleseed I always wanted to build a Landmate. It was a bit tricky to keep it close enough to scale. I am mostly pleased with the results but I will keep trying to improve it. I was working on prototypes for (URL) (...) (20 years ago, 24-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space, FTX)

Looks awesome David! You got all the details right, even the small arms in the torso. I love the foot design, it's really cool. Heh, very nice overall. That said, I actually prefer the version without all the Landmate details. It just looks sleeker. (...) (20 years ago, 24-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space, FTX)

(...) Thanks MP! I was hoping to make the shoulders bulge but I would loose some movement and decided not to go for it... for now. I will try. (...) I agree, I think a revised version of the first prototype will end up released as PA005A. (...) (...) (20 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Tribute to Masamune Shirow —David Rabadan
(...) You mentioned the small arms in the torso so I figured I'll point out that I modified them to look even more "Masamune Shirowish" recently. on some of his Landmates he has uses for those small arms such as holding weapons so I made it possible (...)         Re: Tribute to Masamune Shirow —Adam Silcott
I always love to see the slick use of Bionicle pieces. And considering how long it took me to figure out what it was, I'd say this one is especially slick. It's been a long time since I read Appleseed, so I don't remember exactly what it's supposed (...) (20 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Tribute to Masamune Shirow —David Rabadan
(...) Thanks Adam. I have been trying to use that mask for a while but could not find a solution for the torso small enough to fit. Then, one sunny afternoon I was walking down the street and saw what looked like a Bionicle piece on the floor. It (...) (20 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Tribute to Masamune Shirow —Kyle Vrieze
(...) -snip- I'm seeing Shirow cues all over this thing. The feet, the AV sensor "wings" in the back, the head and "ears", the rifle that looks "Swiss", like the rifles Deunan and Bri had in book 2... I think your prototype without the slave arms (...)          Re: Tribute to Masamune Shirow —David Rabadan
(...) Hello Kyle, thanks for responding. (...) 'sob' I have tears rolling down my cheeks. You noticed all the Shirow signs which makes me feel that I accomplised what I set out to do down to the riffle with AP rounds. Thanks. I put that gun together (...)         Re: Tribute to Masamune Shirow —Jean-Pascal Rignault
(...) I know nothing about these mangas, but this small landmate is pure genious! It was impossible for me at first sight to say it's made of Lego! I thought it was a mini figure, a toy, when I first saw that on BS. Incredible use of Bionicle parts! (...) (20 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Tribute to Masamune Shirow —David Rabadan
(...) Hey Jean, thanks. Those Bionicle masks seem to make great cockpits for PAs. Takes a bit of doing and imagination to cover the "eye wholes" though. Cheers. (20 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space, FTX)
