As a fan of Masamune Shirow and Appleseed I always wanted to build a
Landmate. It was a bit tricky to keep it close enough to scale. I am mostly
pleased with the results but I will keep trying to improve it.

Hello Kyle, thanks for responding.

Im seeing Shirow cues all over this thing. The feet, the AV sensor wings
in the back, the head and ears, the rifle that looks Swiss, like the
rifles Deunan and Bri had in book 2...

sob I have tears rolling down my cheeks. You noticed all the Shirow signs
which makes me feel that I accomplised what I set out to do down to the riffle
with AP rounds. Thanks. I put that gun together in 2 minutes just for the action
pics but I have modified it a little more to match the book version more
closely. I will post pics on my
Weapons section soon.

I think your prototype without the slave arms looks like one of the Israeli
landmates with the internal slave arms that Yoshi was playing with (in book
4? or was it Databook? I cant remember.) Aesthetically, Im not a big fan
of the potbelly/skinny-limbed proportions, but theres really no other
alternative if you want to match the scale plus fit an entire fig inside. In
addition, its true to Shirows more practical visions, and probably closest
to what an actual landmate would look like (from an engineering perspective,
its probably not necessary nor desirable to have bulky appendages compared
with the torso assembly).

You are right yet I would have loved to come up with a way to do the shoulders
more true to the GUGES but the ways I tried did not work well.
A minifig helmet looks really good on
each shoulder but poseability and range of motion was not good at all.

Okay, that was kind of a long-winded post. Cool mech, David!

We like long winded. Take care Kyle.
