ok, I sat quietly, silently, and enjoyably looked through each picture.

Good, you paced yourself, so as to prevent a complete Sophie-freakout.

Quality pictures, as always, a given.

Thanks, Im using a Nikon D70 Digital SLR Camera now... Meaning I finally have
all the control I have longing for; shutter speed, aperature, focus, etc.
I still have to figure out the optimal white balance for my shots though. I had
to fix this a lot in Photoshop.
|
Unussual design, as always, a given.
|
Thanks.
|
Excellent blending of very cool pieces, a given.
I cant get over how cool the dark grey pieces blend together. All those
slopes and elements comming together at different orientations. Super cool.
|
Thanks again.
|
Dang! That turret/sensor on the front is elegant! LOVE IT. You always manage
to have something like that on most of your multi-legged Mecha, its a great
concept, real world like too. Very possible.
|
Yep, I draw inspiration from the optical sensors used on modern MBTs.
|
See but thats what I love about your stuff, you make it more real than
fanciful. I gotta say those 6 anti-whatchamacalit dispensers (1x1s with
clips) on the front of the Crab flared/faned out like that is just so cool to
look at.
|
Haha, yeah, I tried to mix it up a bit with the dispensers, so I made them
blocky.
BTW, I got inspired to do this after rotating my models in L3Lab and holding
down SHIFT... Its an intermediate way of seeing the orientation of your
model, because all the bounding boxes for the LDraw parts are skinned,
producing a crazy blocky/polygonal effect. You really get to see LEGO models
in a whole new light.
|
The two swiveling gun pods on the front are a trade mark. and the two main
cannons look mean.
|
Thanks.
|
The legs look like they can take direct hits. But until I saw the undersides,
thats when I really started to enjoy their construction.
|
Gotta love my underside shots... Ive fallen and I cant up! :-p
|
Yo, lets talk about the tail fin section. Wow, I have this theory.
Mladen builds with the attempt of blending natural brick shapes together.
Using elements together to form smooth transitions and clever shape blending.
You have a nack for seeing the elements that should be used together and then
you find the one or two peices that make them work together.
|
You nailed it Eric, thats exactly what I try to do.
I go through several revisions until I end up with something that I perceive as
right, i.e. the pieces all look like they are supposed to go together.
|
And may I say, all of us who have built a cockpit, either in a ship, vehicle
or Mecha, enjoy seeing how you did this one. We all know that you only get so
much space when using a mini-fig. That is to say, at a 4 stud across, at the
elbows of the fig distance. Using those 4x4 hinged pieces is perfect. They
fell right in place. Or so it seems.
|
I used the same design on the MWP also. If it aint broke, why fix it, eh?
|
I really want you to take all these design elements and work them into a
second version of this Tank Mecha. I only say that because these design ques
will work where ever you decide to use them.
|
Ill see what I can do. I cant give any assurances however. :-(
|
Sorry to slobber all over your Mech. I just love seeing what you come up
with.
|
As do I over the bots you build. Im glad we have such a strong mutual
appreciation for each others work! :-D

P.S. Can I use one of your Mecha pics for the .mecha User Guide?
(Within the document as a Poster Mecha, please may I)
|
Go right ahead Eric! ;-)
