parts you build with. Who needs curved wedges when you have 2x4 bricks :).

Hehehe, exactly! Im by no means a lego purist, but I do love my 2x4s. Also,
the RX-79 and RGM-79 have rather sharp lines anyway, they arent your average
Deathscythe/Wing Gundams. More military, I guess.
|
The RX-79 has a pretty good form, and i am astonished as to how you managed
to make a gundam head with only certain basic parts!
|
Thanks. The key to the head is plates and those 1x1 with the stud on the sides.
Basic but workable. I would like to improve the crest, but its hard to get the
dang angle right with other pieces.
|
My favorite of the two, by far, is the rgm-79. The color, the weapons, and
the overall form just seems better than the rx-79.I actually REALLY like the
head design on the rgm, it looks simple but seems pretty detailed. The one
problem i have with the RGM is the connection from the shoulder to lower arm.
That wierd technicpin/click hinge piece, it just seems to skinny to hold
those parts together.
|
Thanks again. The pin/hinge really is rather skinny looking, although very
strong. I had used some other stuff, but it was much weaker and less mobile.
To use the big Beam Sniper Rifle, the arms have to be VERY flexible, which can
be a pain to build into a small package.
|
As for the hands, i cant really give any ideas for a new actual hand design,
as this scale really only has 1 method that fits it well.
|
So Ive been discovering. Im still trying though.
|
But If you want to get more of a sniper pose with a rifle like that, the
wrists need to have full articulation. When i made a previous model, I
pretended to be holding a rifle, and see what parts of my wrist and arm were
bent, and then try and create an arm that had similar articulation. I see you
already have the wrist some of the extra articulation, with the old 1x2 hinge
brick.
|
Quite so. I have a couple ideas for that, including making the wrist a ball
joint, or using the 1x2 plates with one stud on top as the next axis. Ill test
some stuff and see how it works. Like I said before, the problem is
flexibility, size, and strength. More joints, less strength, gun falls off,
less joints, more strength, gun poses awkwardly.
|
I dont know if my comments were helpful or not, or even readable (typing on
a laptop, arg) Nonetheless, i definately have to see some more stuff soon!
|
As for more stuff...check out this little thing I slapped together with my extra
brown pieces: Bulldog
Once again, thanks for the comments.
