My first suggestion is to make the hips almost the same as the shoulders.

I’ll see if I can find some. But I really don’t have smallish size Mecha
to use as an example.

I use mostly worm gears.

Ball joints from Bionicle
The Bar and Clip system

I’ll work on the Skirt thing.

SoS, i've tried every thing, ball joints aren't strong enough, click hinges are too clunky...i'm at my wits end.....and the shoulders i'm using right now only stay put because they have jolly rancher squares wrappers in them to stiffen them up... (20 years ago, 24-May-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

if it wouldn't be too much to ask, would anyone permit a glimpse at the workings f your mecha's hips? i can make decent looking legs, and even better looking torsos (all mid sized), but it's the connection of the two are freakishly hard to make for (...) (20 years ago, 24-May-04, to lugnet.build.mecha)
