Say, that's hella cool! G, this is a nifty thing-- I love the shattered plaster (mud?)walls-- the effect is very realistic from a certain distance. I like the poor guy on the stretcher, too.   Re: New Diorama

WOW! Very nice Geordan. I like the destroyed buildings/houses, as well as the huge amount of detail. Great job once again! Oh, if I may ask, is there some kind of story behind this diorama? Are the allied forces taking a break? Are they under heavy (...) (23 years ago, 20-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.military, lugnet.build.mecha)

  New Diorama

Hello all! I've had this idea to do this diorama for a while, and it finally came to life. I present, my newest diorama: (URL) won't be used as a display for my other mecha etc, as I'm am breaking it down presently forthe parts for my next project: (...)   Re: the beginnings of mecha

Ever seen the little kit you can buy, it contains the nitinol wire and enough small bits to create a little hexapod. All you need is solder and an iron. Then you make the little bug with the instructions, apply a current via AA battery and the (...) (23 years ago, 20-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: the beginnings of mecha

(...) Yes, it's called nitinol wire, which is a type of "shape memory alloy". When heated with an electrical current, it contracts up to 10% in length. It's contraction strength is nearly 22,000 pounds per square inch. A nitinol wire six thousandths (...) (23 years ago, 19-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

I think I might be insane

This is my newest mecha, built in about a day and it doesen't exactly look up to par but I couldn't wait for the overpowering temptation to change it when i know that no matter what I can do, this is as good as i can make it. or at least until I (...)   Re: NOM-02 Prototype

(...) An excellent suggestion! I would have done exactly this, however, I don't have nearly enough technic pieces (yet) to create an internal frame. Rather than waiting to accumulate the pieces, I decided to build a hollow Gundam and then have it (...) (23 years ago, 19-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: NOM-02 Prototype

Bobby, Sometimes, it's a little like peeking behind the curtain in the Wizard of Oz, or finding out how the magician performs his trick-- I'm still fascinated by that very first pic, and seeing inside is never quite as good.   Re: New and kinda-new stickfig mecha wallpaper and stuff

Jeremy, As usual, I'm very impressed with your additions. The attention to detail, not only in the figures, but in the scenes borders on obsessive. In particular, I like the Sandman, and its colour- and theme- relations. There's something about that (...) (23 years ago, 19-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space, lugnet.publish)

Re: New and kinda-new stickfig mecha wallpaper and stuff

(...) Heh heh thanks. :-, I was wincing a bit about that -- it almost looks like the cheesy sfx they used on the old Buck Rogers and Battlestar Galactica shows. But we all love cheese... (...) Awesome, thanks for the feedback. This is exactly what I (...) (23 years ago, 19-Jan-02, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.publish, lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: New and kinda-new stickfig mecha wallpaper and stuff

(...) Thanks Borislav. Believe it or not, the scenes were built using free tools. MLCad and L3P+LGEO provided the core Lego parts, and the scenery effects -- rocket flare, landscape, sky, etc. -- were all added in using POVRay code (MegaPOV in some (...)
