  Re: MOC: The Cypher

(...) Thanks Stuart. That's basically what I did, just built the main frame/body, then "greebly'd" it up a lot. I wanted to simulate the inner workings showing in places and such. I'm really getting to love the grey and tan color scheme too. :-) (...) (23 years ago, 8-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: MOC: The Cypher

(...) <at attention> Sir, thank you sir! A digital camera would have helped greatly, sir! :-) -Chris (23 years ago, 8-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: MOC: The Cypher

(...) Thanks Bobby. (...) The plating for the cockpit is the head. You could do it in terms of eyes (this mech's sensors). The two space guns on the front (one with red 1x1 dot, one without) are the mech's sensors. Kind of jumbled tho...good pics (...) (23 years ago, 8-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Contest entries

Hey, All- Chris Maddisons' model, the Cypher, is currently the first entry in the mecha contest! Check it out at (URL) ! Also, I'll let Stuart's Bullfrog enter, as long as nobody else tries the "delayed post" entrys. I really like it! Ryan Wilhelm (23 years ago, 8-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: MOC: The Cypher

(...) This is a very nice piece. It is so densely packed that I didn't even notice the pilot right away. I like the sheer bulk of it-- incredibly massive on a small scale. And the colours are fab! stuart (23 years ago, 8-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: bullfrog

(...) I found this: "2. Model must be an original mecha creation made after Nov. 29" That counts the bullfrog out, which is perfectly ok. (...) thanks, B! (...) yeah, I was hoping actually to get the inside the _legs_ instead. Oh, well. If it's used (...) (23 years ago, 8-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: bullfrog

(...) oh, hey, I think you frogs stick together... and thanks for liking it, really. It is much appreciated. I hope I didn't offend anyone-- I didn't mean to be excessively anything. But in my own defence, my criteria for self-analysis follow: Did I (...) (23 years ago, 8-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: bullfrog

(...) Thanks GAMH. You have picked the right reference-- Shirow is always a big influence. His Landmates are so pared down and organic, though, it's a personal challenge to achieve in a rectilinear medium. thanks for your comments. stuart (23 years ago, 8-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: bullfrog

(...) Thanks--indeed, this one is not covered in greeblies-- it really is just a (hard) shell. I think there's some minor asymmety in all my mecha-- sometimes intentional, sometimes forced by piece count. (...) oh no! Not at all! In fact, the (...) (23 years ago, 8-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: MOC: The Cypher

(...) Mmmmm, yummy. Good detail. I wish the pics were better. :\ Maybe you could get someone with a good digital to snap some for you sometime. Nice work. ~Grand Admiral Muffin Head (23 years ago, 8-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: bullfrog

(...) That's beautiful--hardsuits are difficult because of LEGO proportions at the minifig scale, but you've taken TECHNIC scale and made something that looks really nice but isn't overpowering! I really like the "understated" utility of the (...) (23 years ago, 8-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: MOC: The Cypher

(...) Sweet! As Eric likes to say, "this is a good day for mecha". Not one, but two excellent mechs today, now that is something! I like the overall shape of the Cypher (although I can't seem to find the head) but as I have said, I have no (...) (23 years ago, 8-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: MOC: The Cypher

(...) Heh..just the response I was looking for. :-) (...) Thanks. I do believe I will enter this goon. (...) ROFLMAO...I can see it. :-) -Chris (23 years ago, 8-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: MOC: The Cypher

(...) Wowza---(insert jaw drop) That's pretty cool. I really like the pilot. It looks almost like somesort of bounty hunter vehicle from starwars. It qualifys for my Mecha Contest, so email me if ya wanna enter. Just imagine one of those facing (...) (23 years ago, 8-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  MOC: The Cypher

Hi all, The Cypher is my most recent mecha. These pics were taken with a 35mm camera, so excuse the blurriness. I was simply trying to make a reverse-kneed minifig-scale mecha. I'm really beginning to love the grey and tan color scheme. (URL) (23 years ago, 7-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: bullfrog

(...) Excellent. I think you did a very nice job of making rounded shoulders. Reminds me of one of Masamune Shirow's Landmates from Appleseed. I don't recall very many Technic scale mecha before. Cool. ~Grand Admiral Muffin Head (23 years ago, 7-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: bullfrog

(...) You can check the contest rules, but you should be able to enter it since it is only now that you have posted pictures of the bullfrog. (...) I can't quite agree that it "ain't much". I love what you have done with this MS (it reminds me of (...) (23 years ago, 7-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  bullfrog

Well, I mentioned this one in an aside a while back, and even though I'm only posting it today, it was really done a few weeks ago, so I can't in all conscience enter it in the contest.... I guess I'll have to do something else. Anyway, while I move (...) (23 years ago, 7-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Mecha Worksop on hold :^(

(...) Wow! Thanks Derek. IMO I'm a bit underqualified but as you can see Dave is pumped up and I'm hoping Eric makes it too. (...) Now let's not get carried away :-) He's only worth maybe $3.25 for a peek. thanks for the praise. Later, Bryce (...) (23 years ago, 7-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.events.brickswest)
