Dark Gundams are awesome. No doubt about it. -- Chef ICQ:84584424 AIM: Jedi101673 (URL) <klaupacius@aol.com> wrote in message news:G6IDJA.A11@lugnet.com... (...) (24 years ago, 9-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Fuji Power Armor

(...) Thanks! (...) I guess that all depends what kind of arms are expected to be fired at it. :D eric (24 years ago, 8-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Fuji Power Armor

(...) Thanks! Keep an eye out, I have a few models sitting around that I haven't posted anywhere yet. My main limiting factor at the moment is daylight- by the time I get out of work it's dark out, so I don't have natural light to take photos in, (...) (...) <snip> (...) Nice job! It definitely has that "chunky" tough look to it. ~Mark "Muffin Head" Sandlin (24 years ago, 8-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Fuji Power Armor

(...) Nice job from an engineering perspective but in regards to your "walking tank than a work of art" comment, I think it's way too flat. Some rounded edges would probably be added to an actual mecha to increase deflection of arms fire. Just my (...) (24 years ago, 8-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Fuji Power Armor

(...) I am not much of a mecha fan, but your model is pretty cool. I think it captures the look of a working, serious mech. I look forward to seeing more of your MOC's on Brickshelf! (24 years ago, 7-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Fuji Power Armor

I recently created a Brickshelf account and uploaded pics of my latest creation, Fuji Power Armor. (URL) goal when building the armor was to create a mech along the lines of the Scopedog and those in Heavy Gear-- small, bulky armor that looks more (...)   Re: New Bug Mecha @ Moonbase Io

(...) I suppose that the cockpit/cabin has a powersuit feel to it, but with the Lycosid being an arthropod instead of an anthropoid type mecha, its hard to draw a connection. Of course if you're thinking of the missle rack and medium pulse cannon as (...) (24 years ago, 6-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)

Re: New Bug Mecha @ Moonbase Io

(...) Lycosid looks a lot like a power suit. I like the range of movement the ball & socket joints give your models. I'd like to see this one go up against your shocktrooper. Bryce (24 years ago, 5-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)

They did something like that on the robo guardian , you'd stick red antinnaes in, and it held them in place. -- Chef ICQ:84584424 AIM: Jedi101673 (URL) McGlone <bmcglone@ditim.com> wrote in message news:G6KHt9.Ms4@lugnet.com...   Re: Need help with leg joints!

(...) I use Throwbot L-limbs and clicking hinges. Check out the Emu, Cassowary, and Roadrunner mecha on my site - Moonbase Io for examples at (URL) . And if you dont like the L-limbs' look but like the strength of the ball-and-socket joints, try (...) (24 years ago, 4-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Need help with leg joints!

(...) One thing you need to consider is that the LoM mecha have their center of gravity almost directly above the click-hinges. They also don't really put very much weight on the joints themselves. Building something with a "chicken leg" design like (...) (24 years ago, 3-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Dark Gundam 03 - more

(...) The Pitsco Dacta online store is at: (URL) they have some sort of slothful server that makes the site almost useless. Just call up the 800 number on the site and ask for "technic turntables" They come in packs of two for $10. You'll also need (...) (24 years ago, 3-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Need help with leg joints!

(...) Right now I've got 2 hinges on each joint. I thought that would be sufficient, but now I wonder if there's not some kind of weird torque going on - because I don't think the model is *that* heavy, and the hinges hold up stuff like the LoM (...)   Re: Need help with leg joints!

(...) Jeff, Usually you'll need to put a "stop" in the knee joint to keep it from falling down. Or maybe you could double or triple up on the click hinges though I've found that this method gives only slightly more stability. I've also seen the (...)   Need help with leg joints!

I'm messing around with a two-legged walker design vaguely similar to the AT-ST. This is my first real experience with large mecha, and I seem to have made it too heavy for the click hinges to worm properly - it'll stand up (barely) but if it's (...)
