I use Throwbot L-limbs and clicking hinges. Check out the Emu, Cassowary,
and Roadrunner mecha on my site - Moonbase Io for examples at
http://moonbase-io.webjump.com/default.htm .
And if you dont like the L-limbs' look but like the strength of the
ball-and-socket joints, try experimenting with the new ball joints with axle
specific holes found in the Technic C3-PO and Stormtrooper. They are
designed to work with Throwbot socket elements. I just got mine from WM the
other day.
