My goal when building the armor was to create a mech along the lines of the
Scopedog and those in Heavy Gear-- small, bulky armor that looks more like
something a real military would build and put into combat than something like
the Gundam Wing armors, more a walking tank than a work of art.

I named it the Fuji armor because in the course of building it, I realised that
it had roughly the same proportions as Fuji, a character in the comic book
Stormwatch (especially in his early containment suit).

I had to make some sacrifices in the name of keeing it small- a minifig can't
really sit inside, although there is a cavity in the torso, and some
articulation was lost- but in the end, the model still sports 15 points of
articulation, more than most action figures the same size.

Have a look, and let me know what you think.

Nice job from an engineering perspective but in regards to your "walking
tank than a work of art" comment, I think it's way too flat.  Some rounded
edges would probably be added to an actual mecha to increase deflection of
arms fire.  Just my thoughts for the forthcoming "Upgraded" version ;)

(...) Thanks! (...) I guess that all depends what kind of arms are expected to be fired at it. :D eric (23 years ago, 8-Jan-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)
