  Re: Salisbury Cathedral

(...) Brian, Thanks for the amazing compliment. And yes, I’m definitely bringing it to Brickworld. Someone else asked me about the piece count. Given all the 1x1 plates and black plates needed to hold it together I’m estimating well over 10,000 (...) (16 years ago, 23-Mar-08, to lugnet.build.arch)

  Re: Salisbury Cathedral

(...) Arthur, I saw this earlier today on Brickshelf and knew it was yours the minute I saw it. Beautiful work with excellent use of colour to bring out the architectural details. Thanks for the historical background info on the Cathedral. Hope (...) (16 years ago, 23-Mar-08, to lugnet.build.arch)

  Salisbury Cathedral

Salisbury Cathedral, located in southern England, will this year celebrate its 750th anniversary. The cathedral was completed in 1258 but the spire was not added until 1320. At the moment my MOC is also without a spire. I’ve attempted to build it a (...) (16 years ago, 22-Mar-08, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.build, lugnet.build.microscale, lugnet.build.arch) !!

  technic furniture

many years ago i gave away my technic pieces. i felt they had no value (i know, i know, how innocent i was). i didn't feel i had a future building cranes or robots or motorized mocs, ;). how little i knew giving away those gears and things with (...)   new moc: double decker house

(URL) when our lug required a quick infill for our annual display at railfair last october, i made this double decker house with dance studio and ballroom. again, it was loosely based on a house i had seen for a brief moment on a renovation/extreme (...)   staircase studies

(URL) i have been experimenting with a variety of designs to create curved staircases, and in some cases, wavy staircases. the designs here are all based on the same concept, but each varies slightly in building techniques using different stud (...)   My first MOC - town block

One town block with buildings in various architectural styles. From classic to modern... all buildings are my own design, except for cafe corner and market street. I hope you like it! I didn't have time to edit all the images, so please try to (...) (16 years ago, 20-Feb-08, to lugnet.build.arch)

  Re: Roof question

(...) I have tried 2 workarounds for the lack of such a piece: 1. Fill in the valley where such piece would go with one 1x3 slope plus 1x1 plates and tiles to approximate. (I like Tim's mention of the new 1x1 slopes here). Result: not too great. 2. (...) (16 years ago, 17-Feb-08, to lugnet.build.arch, FTX)

  Re: Roof question

(...) And my apologies for responding to myself but... aren't you somewhat of an expert of multi-layered, multi-hinged shapes? You could probably do something really neat by hiding a multi-angled shell under plates stuck on studs up (or even with (...) (16 years ago, 16-Feb-08, to lugnet.build.arch, FTX)

  Re: Roof question

(...) Angling some wing plates is the only solution I'm aware of and it's not that great IMO. Basically it's a nasty problem. You may be able to try something tricky with 1x1 slopes too. Tim (16 years ago, 16-Feb-08, to lugnet.build.arch, FTX)

  Re: Roof question

(...) Duane, a 3x3 (double concave) 33 degree "valley" slope has not yet been produced by LEGO. Neither has a 1x2 (triple) 33 degree half pyramid roof peak, nor the parts needed for an "L" or "T" roof ridge. So that makes it difficult to produce a (...)   Roof question

I put this in lugnet.town, but then found this group as well, so... I’m working on my first house-type model and have a roof question for you experienced town-builders. Unfortunately, I cannot use the roof slopes for this project, because the roof (...) (16 years ago, 15-Feb-08, to lugnet.build.arch, FTX)

  Dome of the Rock

I swear I didn’t build this in 4 days. I had started a number of projects over the summer but they all took a back seat when I was commissioned to build a model of a local church.   St. Peter's Basilica

My next Lego landmark: St. Peter's Basilica. Or should I say a cathedral based on St. Peter's Basilica? Clearly the colors are wrong but that was a matter of economics coupled with the amazing pieces I found at the Disney pick-a-brick. Also, by (...)
