i vowed to myself to post this before the new year. i have berated fellow lug members for not posting their new mocs but then i distinctly heard mr. pot calling to mr. kettle, something about the colour black. back in april i completed a new moc, (...) I'm not sure this qualifies as a dome. I like to or at least try to make my roofs "exciting". A dull roof can kill a house with an otherwise great/interesting facade. Hi all, Building a realistic looking dome with LEGO elements is a real challenge. A dome is not only an egg-shaped half-shere, it often has additional structure like bands or windows. I constructed this microscale Chinese pagoda as a centerpiece for a dinner party (for 25!) that we hosted two weeks ago. It isn't accurate to any specific pagoda, but is broadly based on some of the techniques and styles I observed in some source (...) Wow, Alistair, this is a beautiful recreation. I am particularly impressed with the interior detail. The tiled floor pattern is very nicely done is the room with the stately dark red columns. This is a recent MOC of a row of English terraced houses. It's typical of working class housing from around 1900 as can be found across much of the Midlands and North of England. I built this a few years ago, but I don't think I ever announced it at the time. It's a Scots Baronial mansion house, based on the buildings of 19th century Edinburgh architect David Bryce.
