Re: The Parable of the Many Murders

Hey Brendan, Good stuff as always. I like the way you made the vineyard--good subtle detail with the smaller leaf elmenets in the first shot, then larger ones at harvest time. Funny with the one guy holding the clothes in 12:4, but should the pants (...) (21 years ago, 24-Mar-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

Re: The Parable of the Many Murders

(...) As good as ever! I especially like that the stoning scene with the giant rock is taken right out of "Life of Brian". Thanks for your contribution to entertainment of the masses! Arne, Copenhagen (21 years ago, 22-Mar-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

Re: The Parable of the Many Murders

(...) Great job as always, Brendan. I think I've now read more of the Bible in its Brick Testament incarnation than in book form. But you know, as soon as I saw that the landowner's son was Timmy, I knew that the slaves weren't going to respect him. (...) (21 years ago, 22-Mar-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

The Parable of the Many Murders

The Brick Testament has been updated today with a new illustrated story from the Gospels, the Parable of the Many Murders: (URL) Rev. Brendan Powell Smith (NOTE: To those unfamiliar with The Brick Testament or the Bible, please note the violence (...) (21 years ago, 22-Mar-04, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.build.ancient) !

  Re: historical situations

(...) Go up (to (URL) )and you'll see that the owner of that page doesn't give credit to much of ANYTHING he has in his collection of links/images. That doesn't make it right (far from it) but at least BPS isn't being singled out. ++Lar (21 years ago, 16-Mar-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build.ancient)

  Re: historical situations

(...) (URL) as far as I can see, any attribution of credit. Bruce (21 years ago, 16-Mar-04, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build.ancient)

Re: Parable of the Harsh Master

(...) Thanks, Doug. (...) It's a LEGO pen bead: (URL) picked them up in a few colors -- yellow, red, trans-dark pink, and a couple of purple ones, at the bulk shop in LEGOland CA. -Brendan (21 years ago, 16-Mar-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

Re: The Parable ot the Tortured Debtor

(...) As in "how can I tie this to 'backpacks' as an adjective to describe it, just to be silly. I could have said "wow you really "packed" a lot in" but that would have been TOO obvious. I could have XFUT to off-topic.pun, but, again, too obvious. (...) (21 years ago, 13-Mar-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

Re: The Parable ot the Tortured Debtor

(...) Thanks. (...) Me too. (...) As in "something so outrageously artificial, affected, inappropriate, or out-of-date as to be considered amusing" or "having exaggerated effeminate mannerisms exhibited especially by homosexuals"? (...) It goes all (...) (21 years ago, 13-Mar-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

Re: The Parable ot the Tortured Debtor

(...) sort of, er, "campy". Digging that floor though, how far up the wall does the upsidedown-ness go? Looks like above where the camera can see to me. (21 years ago, 13-Mar-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

Re: The Parable ot the Tortured Debtor

(...) Yeah, I was happy to finish this one up a little ahead of schedule. (...) It isn't? I could be wrong, but I thought this parable was one of the easier ones to "decode". The master in the story stands for God, and the slaves stand for humans. (...) (21 years ago, 13-Mar-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

Re: Parable of the Harsh Master

(...) (snip) Hey Brendan, Excellent job, as always! This, and the Tortured Debtor... My question, which I haven't seen answered here...on either side of the throne, there is a basketball hoop turned upside down, with a purple object resting on it, (...)   Re: The Parable ot the Tortured Debtor

Hey Brendan, What a nice little surprise to finish the week. I'm in that "not quite time to leave but too late to start something new on a Friday afternoon" mode, so I check Lugnet, and here's a new parable. :D Title: Hmm, I probably would have (...) I think you've struck a pretty good balance in using Lego whenever possible, I was really hoping there were silver coins (...) (21 years ago, 12-Mar-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

Re: Parable of the Harsh Master

(...) Thanks, Jon. (...) Heh, yeah, the bow-legs are a little goofy, but I like them too, better than my previous way of having minifigs ride camels. It's pretty funny to see one of the camel riders retain that pose when he's off the camel. It's (...) (21 years ago, 12-Mar-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

Re: Parable of the Harsh Master

As usual, really sweet work! I like the riding legs, and the walls covered in 1x1 white plates. The throne is really genius as well. Are those coins silver or is it a lighting effect? That hat on the guy crowning the king, how did you do that? Hey (...) (21 years ago, 11-Mar-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

Re: Parable of the Harsh Master

This is actually one of the most famous stories of the new testament, I have read it in a number of translations, each seems to emphasize a different part of this story just like it was done here, as always with the bible there are a number of ways (...)   Re: Parable of the Harsh Master

(...) I'd say rather that the king-maker would probably be a priest or other religious figure. For instance there is the example of Samuel the prophet being led by God to annoint David as the king. The hat would work great in either case anyway. (...) (21 years ago, 7-Mar-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

Re: Parable of the Harsh Master

(...) That's a Biker Scout stormtrooper helmet turned backward. It was interesting to illustrate -- this guy was being made a king, so presumably the person making him a king had to have some even greater position. But I was using the crown to (...)
