always-good work when youve been handling those bricks, still:
Good work chap!
|
Thanks. Its always very heartening to get some nice compliments after putting
a new set of stories online.
|
So, lets do this the long and hard way again :)
|
Detailed comments are most appreciated. @8^)
|
Rape
Dt 22:23. Dont worry, the bar looks very bar-ish. Perhaps a tad to bright. It
should use a darker setting with multicoloured spots of light here and there.
|
Ah, yes. Bars are generally pretty dark. Except on TVs Cheers. That was one
well-lit place to get drunk.
|
I bet the poet or artist (he looks like that) can get a free
glimpse if he wants to.
|
Heh. I read that comment and had no idea what you meant, so I opened another
browser window to look at the photo in question, and after a second it dawned on
me. Minifigs always look sorta funny in the seated position with no knee
joints. I experimented with the
bent-at-the-knee look a while back, but it didnt seem appropriate at the bar
scene.
|
The beds looks great, but it appear a little strange to have two king sized
beds in the same room? The lamps look odd.
|
Perhaps this is only an American thing, but showing that the room had two queen
sized beds and the strange double-lamp fixture was supposed to imply that this
is a motel room. They dont have Motel 6 in Sweden, do they?
|
Dt 22:24. Nice stoning! The broken neck is very effectful as mentioned.
|
Fittingly gruesome, yes.
|
Dt 22:25. What is the fence made of? Technic fig skis? The micro fig farm is
great! The pitchfork is somewhat confusing, is there another witch-hunt coming
up? (j/k)
|
The fence is made of skis, yes, but I think they are minifig skis. Actually, I
dont know what set theyre from, so I cant say for sure. I think this is the
first time Ive found a use for them.
|
Nice bowl for the pig! (And I literally mean the pig and not the rapist). The
brown structure in the back looks very good, its immediately recognizable as
a stable. The stapled hey is also great!
|
Im glad the stable setting is recognizeable -- Id been a little worried while
putting it together. The pig is, of course, a Duplo animal. Its actually the
baby pig, which is why it looks OK compared to minifigs. They very annoying
thing about the baby Duplo animals is that they come attached to a block of
green plastic on which they stand. It was very hard work to liberate the pig
from his little piece of pasture. Duplo is weird.
|
Dt 22:28. In the alley, the victims face is a tad disturbing. Still, its an
interesting detail.
|
Disturbing howso, out of curiosity? I had considered doing a Photoshop touch-up
to change her expression here, but I dont like to do that unless I feel its
very necessary. I certainly didnt want for it to look like the victim was
smiling or smirking in this photo, if thats what youre finding disturbing. I
ended up feeling that her raised eyebrow and half-covered face expressed enough
of a frightened and panicked expression to be appropriate.
|
Newlyweds
Cool detail to bring the story from the previous chapter forward!
Dt 24:5. Nice jungle! Looks really dense! Im not a fan of your helmet cutting
though. Its not the cutting in itself but you really aught to take some sand
paper and fix the cut up a bit. Same goes with Jahew BTW. Your photos are so
crisp that every little scratch is visible and those cuts look less then
clean.
|
I see what youre saying. Ill try to clean-up the rough edges a little more in
the future. I guess they didnt stand out when I looked at these photos before.
|
In the last picture, is that foot massage or pant pulling? I read the black
1x1 round plates as cookies of some sort. Not to be confused with a previous
use of 1x1 rounds. The plant is great! So is the comfy seat!
|
Thats supposed to be the newlywed husband pampering the newlywed wife, so he is
giving her a foot massage while she reclines with a glass of wine and a
heart-shaped box of dark chocolates. @8^)
|
Proof of virginity
Dt 22:13. Nice sheets!
|
Yeah, thats some crazy Belville or Scala piece of fancy cloth. The very same
sheets used by Lot and his wife, in fact!
|
Dt 22:13-14. Now I dont watch a lot of TV, only have three channels and there
are not a lot of programs like that on them, still, the kind of show that is
displayed here is instantly recognizable and totally hilarious! It shows the
stereotypes just perfect!
|
Im sure that Sweden is better off without the types of shows that this photo is
spoofing.
|
Prisoners of war
Dt 21:10. I may not be a gun-craze but the man in front of this pic no doubt
is! However, I am a tank-craze and the body is a little off your standard as
you know by now. But that turret is top-notch! Take a peak in
lugnet.build.military, there you can find some insane tank-SNOTing!
|
I did draw some inspiration from lugnet.build.military. But actually, I
couldnt seem to find anyone who had done a detailed model of a modern warfare
tank. It seemed that most of what I saw was stuff from WWII and WWI. But
youre right, the SNOT work on a lot of those creations is amazing.
|
Dt 20:13. Now thats a nice execution! 1 x 1 round tiles, is there anything
they *cant* do?
|
That photo is pretty disturbing. But equally diturbing to me is that no parent
is ever going to write me an angry e-mail because their child saw my LEGO
depiction of a mass execution. But if their kid sees one minifig lying atop
another, thats a moral outrage!
|
Dt 21:11 Nice barbed wire. It may not be a very realistic wire but I dont
think it can be made any better then that! Nice use of focus!
|
Gotta give a shout out to Mike Rayhawk for the barbed-wire idea. It was
featured in his Brikwars battlefield at BrickWest 2002. Im not even sure I got
it right, but Im glad its recognizeable for what its intended to be.
|
Female Infidelity
Nm 5:14, 13 Nice suspicion :) The frog is a cool Easter bunny!
|
Its just an emerald frog that they happen to have in a drawer. @8^)
|
Nm 5:14-15 The colour scheme on the church floor is really nice.
|
Thanks. The only way I had enough of that light blue (or medium blue) color
was to use the 1x1 headlight bricks Ive been hoarding.
|
Nm 5:18-19 Did you tilt the keyboard on the church organ in order to make it
more obvious on the photo?
|
Yes.
|
Nm 5:28 Nice head selection on the unhappy father!
|
Isnt he loveable?
|
And can you explain to me why the price for brown minifig arms has tripled
lately? :-)
|
It hasnt really, has it? Thats gross!
|
Too bad these have to end. Please e-mail me privately as I might have a
suggestion that might interest you!
|
Ill have my people contact your people.
Thanks again for all the comments!
