I would like to motion that this group broaden its charter to include historical
(or semi-historical) works that are not really ancient, but not modern either.
Thus inviting cross-posting (or reposting) from .castle of things medieval or
non-fantastic. And some almost modern MOCs that are obviously historical.
If we could have some 'aye' or 'nay' voices, please. I don't think there's a
formal method for this here.
Here are some past examples to ponder.
Jon Furman - Ein Gedi Fortress (Crusaders)
<http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=4854>
Reed Anderson - Globe Theatre
<http://news.lugnet.com/castle/?n=17473>
Wow - reposted just last week!
Jim Foulds - Temple of Shan-ta-Ree
<http://news.lugnet.com/castle/?n=13780>
Jim made this up but it's so good!
Heather Patey - King Henry VIII And His Six Wives
<http://news.lugnet.com/build/minifigs/?n=796>
Johannes Koehler - Martin Luther
http://news.lugnet.com/castle/?n=14889
Juan Cuello - Santa Cristina de Lena
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=42307
http://news.lugnet.com/castle/?n=16783
(Leonard Hoffman did the right thing cross-posting!)
And of course the Medieval Japanese Fishing Village.
I see Reed Anderson has reposted the Globe Theatre! I recall him asking me in
2001 if this fit into the Ancient Theme contest, and unfortunately it was a bit
of a stretch. Now I think, why not? There's no danger of Shakespeare studies
dominating the category. (Also, a staging of Julius Caesar or Antony and
Cleopatra would have been fine.)
