Hi, guys.  Thanks for the comments.  It's much appreciated.

George, do you have any special requests for small animal match-ups?  I do
have Jar-Jar vs. a gladiator with an axe, but I could go smaller.  We could
have, say, a stick-weilding monkey vs. a team of snakes... or perhaps a
tranparent orange scorpion vs. a transparent blue spider... @8-)

Kevin, I was really suprised how many of those black 1x6 arches I had.  My
first attempt at the colosseum was in gray, but I quickly found that I
lacked the requisite arches, so I did an arch inventory.  As it turned out,
I could have even done another layer of black 1x6 arches, but I ran out of
black 1x1 cylinders - plus, it was tall enough already, I suppose @8-).  The
special box for the emperor was a last minute addition at the suggestion of
my girlfriend.  The colosseum and the its spectators are not modeled exactly
on any particular actual structure or actual people, so I'm not sure who
they are supposed to be.  @8-)  Glad you got to see my other MOCs, too.

Sid, hey, glad you liked the skyline.  I was inspired by the Hong Kong
skyline from my recent trip to China, but I knew that the only way I'd be
able to pull off a whole skyline would be in miniature.  Is this a popular
scale at which to build?  Is there a LUGENT group devoted to miniature
scale?  I might take some photos of the individual buildings today, so I'll
put those up on the same page if I get a chance.  Your Temple of Cryssa is
really nice.  Excellent use of smooth tiles to give it a polished look.  I'd
been considered doing a Parthenon style of building a while ago but,
thinking in minifig-scale, I couldn't figure out a good way to pull off that
many columns.  Your scaled-down solution works great.  I'm even more
impressed by your Bazanta church.  That's a really imaginative use of all
that transparent LEGO.  Great work!  Also enjoyed the Royal tomb, Heliogetic
converter, and the Abandoned maketplace - especially the inner arched of the
promenade.

Take care,

-The Rev. Brendan Powell Smith

<snippy snippy> (...) Popular? Depends on who you ask. Me and the Sproats seem to love it. :-) A lot of people like it, but few people have built models to micro- or nano-fig scale. I'm digging up some links right now... Aha! Jeremy's ships: (URL) (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jun-01, to lugnet.build.ancient, lugnet.build)

(...) That's really stunning! I saw the first picture long before the others loaded, so my first thought was "how many minfigs can sit in it?" and I was very surprised by the answer--a *lot*! A most excellent construction, the roundness handled very (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jun-01, to lugnet.build.ancient)

Hi. I built a LEGO Colosseum this weekend. Have a look and let me know what you think. (URL) Rev.
