  Re: Panzer III Tank (WWII)

I like the way the treads hang along a curved line between the upper wheels. Did you use a mathematical model to place the tread link elements? Or was this done by trial and error? The model looks very nice! Does it have any internal space for (...) (23 years ago, 18-Jan-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)

  Re: Panzer III Tank (WWII)

(...) Thanks for the comments, Fredrik! To get the curve of the treads right, I didn't really use any math whatsoever. I had the real-life model on the desk in front of me, and I knew how many chain links were needed to close the entire loop. I (...) (23 years ago, 19-Jan-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)

(...) You have this model actually built?? I would love to see some photos when you get a chance!! Jake (23 years ago, 20-Jan-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)

  Re: Panzer III Tank (WWII)

Hi Jake, Yup, I do. The turret lifts straight out, and the cupola pulls off for easy access to the interior. I actually have more equipment stacked on the rear of the real thing - some chains, a mortar, and more tools, for example. I also have more (...) Hi Fredrik, I put up a couple more renderings this weekend. They show how the turret pulls straight out, and I made a rendering of the inside of the driver/radioman's area to give an idea of the internal space. Hope that answers your question ... ;) (...) (...) Cool, thanks! I like the way the interior looks just as detailed and realistic as the exterior. Certainly a well done modeling effort. The tank looks very playable to me. BTW, if you want to improve the quality of the renderings, you can (...) (23 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)

  Re: Panzer III Tank (WWII)

Ooh, thank you! I know very little about raytracing or computer graphics - so far, I've been a bit of a minimalist when it comes to this aspect. My grand accomplishment in making the renderings so far was figuring out how to get multiple light (...) (23 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)

Hi Shaun, I should have dropped a note earlier, but I will take the opportunity now. This is really an impressive model, with lots of details both inside and out. It is far afield of what I normally build(castle), but I love it anyway. :-) I'm (...) (23 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)
