Just completed an office block to go alongside my Metro Terminus (part of my
grand Metro Plaza setup)

However, it is far less ambitious than I first planned.

Though it's footprint is smaller than the 48 stud base plate it sits on, it
still costs £17 a storey in bulk windows alone. With the bulk bricks as
well, its around £22 a story.

Now a 10 storey office block would look nice, but try saying £220 to
yourself for a pile of bricks!
Empire State? £2000+. Forget it!

So I stopped at 6 storey
I could have saved some money (or built it higher for the same cost)  by not
including all the sides, e.g. leave the back off. Might do this, though
would not work if it gets included in a larger town set up with buildings on
all sides.

regards
lawrence

For example: a city block is say 8 buildings long, so they are right next to each other, so those sides that are not exposed, don't need windows & (...) Sure you can get parts cheaper second hand but those chanels are not reliable. The one advantage (...) (23 years ago, 10-Jan-01, to lugnet.loc.uk, lugnet.build)

(...) My design for a tower block is working out a little cheaper, but not much. Starting from a similar sized base to your tower, I'm using my 3450 Statue of Liberty as a the source of all building materials, except the windows and some internal (...)
