Hi Travis,

I did actually download and try out your new version of LDVIEW.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work well with my computer.  I have a
voodoo 2 3d card and a 450MHZ computer.  It selects software rendering
instead of the hardware accelleration.  Given that this is a fairly complex
model, my frame rate is about 1 frame a second!

Support for Voodoo 1&2 would be great, but I can understand the difficulty
if you don't have that sort of card.  Ironically, I bought a Voodoo because
it was most compatible with games at the time.

LDVIEW does look like a cool program.  I look forward to a new update with
more hardware support, or to a time when I can get some updated hardware.

Brad

Wow!  I've never used LDraw but I can imagine that making something • that
big
in that program without having something real to base it on was some • hefty
piece of work to accomplish.  It looks great! =)

Thanks again.  I actually had to keep rendering it in POV-ray to get a
decent view of things.  MLCAD provides a 3-d view, but it is somewhat • rough.
The POV-ray output is great and it only takes a second or two to • generate
at
reasonable quality.  MLCAD is a little difficult to learn, but its • pretty
efficient once you get the basics down.

I don't mean to blow my own horn (well, not too much anyway), but have you
tried LDView?  It certainly doesn't produce visuals at the quality level • of
L3P->POVRay, but I feel the quality is pretty good, especially since it's • a
realtime viewer.  And, if you enable auto-update polling, it will reload
every time you save your model in MLCAD.

Not having access to your DAT file, I'm not sure how fast it would be with
this particular model, but I wouldn't expect it to be TOO slow (assuming • you
have a video card with decent OpenGL support).

I just announced version 1.0 on .announce, .cad, and .cad.dev, but here is
the URL:
