Very nice design! I love it when everything comes together
so neatly. The hardest part for me when trying to do things
like that is to get all the gears and tie-downs to align.
I built your version (all in black -- I won't have the yellow
beams until I break down my 8250 search sub).
I was a little disappointed in the length of time it took
the little 5117s to fill my blue tank to working pressure, so
I took your excellent design, added two more angle-beams
in the middle to widen the frame to the length of the motor.
Now the back of the motor is flush with the back frame.
I then added two more gears on the back on the same axels as
those on the front; added another beam along the top and two
more 5117s in an identical configuration to those on the front.
The four gears (two back, two front) are aligned and each 5117
is attached so that it is in a different part of its cycle
compared to the others.
While it obviously should only double the speed with which
the tank is pressurized, it seems to do better than that.
(???)
Maybe I'll try scaling it up and see how your design works with
the larger pumps. Hmmmm...
Again, thanks for sharing such a thoughtful design.

| I have just completed updates to my site to include a new double-acting compressor made of Technic. www.bmts.com/~rhempel And follow the LEGO links on the left. Any comments are appreciated... Cheers, Ralph Hempel - P.Eng ---...--- The train stops (...) (26 years ago, 4-Nov-98, to lugnet.build)
