It's a real pity that Linc Smith isn't active here anymore; he seemed to
be a very resourceful person.
Anyway, I remember fairly well how this switch works, and, yes, there is
a worm gear involved. The key idea is this: You put one of the Technic
Connector with Axlehole (Catch Cross) onto the pneumatic switch axle arm
and a small axle through the connector's axlehole. Then, put a 4L
liftarm onto the small axle coming out of the connector sitting on top
of the switch. This liftarm should point "downwards", so that the lower
hole and the pivot of the switch coincides. Next, put an axle through
the lower hole in the liftarm and a 24t cog onto this axle. Then, let a
worm gear driven by a micromotor mesh with the 24t cog, and voila!
There's probably many ways to organize this setup in a model, depending
on the space available.
