Hey Gang,

Finally got some pics taken of a couple models I built for the SPLTC train layout we did for the National Orange Show we were at in San Bernadino over Memorial Day weekend.

It is completely out of my imagination but based on the grand old hotels from the turn of the century. I have always had a fascination with the Golgen age of travel and finally had enough tan bricks to bring one of these beauties to life in Lego!

I had a blast building it even though I have almost no tan bricks left. A lot of the parts came from the obsolete bricks (thats what we called em. They came from LSI and were from older sets that were no longer being produced) that were the in Legoland California clubhouse building tables. The 1x4x3 panels, the 1x2 pointed roof bricks on the top, and the Adventurers wheels all came from pic-a-brick.

You can see an alternate view at http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/mwv1970

Hope you like it! Will have another one posted here shortly!

(...) Nice! I especially like the panels under the first-floor windows. But where's the Ricky Ricardo suite? Marc Nelson Jr. (URL) Marc's Creations>> (19 years ago, 7-Jul-05, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Hey Bill, this is a very nice build. I showed it to my lady friend and she could not believe how cool it is. I quote: "Your gonna have to zoom in on that one, I can't believe that's Lego." Mean while I'm starring at the loads of 1x1 tooth pates and (...) (19 years ago, 7-Jul-05, to lugnet.build)

(...) Very nice. I was admiring it in the SPLTC event pictures. Excellent layering of detail pieces. Are more pictures coming of this? It's hard to see the sides and no pictures of the back. Hi Bill, (...) Wow I really love all the architectural details! My only nitpick is the front doors: your hotel would be perfect if you could find a "left" and a "right" door. Not sure if such doors exist in white (if any) though. Question for you - (...) (19 years ago, 7-Jul-05, to lugnet.build, FTX)
