Re: New MOC - Giant cable-stayed bridge

(...) It was amazing - since I was right next to him during the build, it was fun to watch too. Other than my one tall GBC module, we could have run most of the GBC right under it in its shadow, with plenty of room left over. (21 years ago, 9-May-05, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: New MOC - Giant cable-stayed bridge

(...) I'll say. I don't think I've EVER seen a MOC so big that it "shaded" other MOCs! (21 years ago, 9-May-05, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: New MOC - Giant cable-stayed bridge

(...) The pictures don't do it justice. It was pretty impressive live. (21 years ago, 9-May-05, to lugnet.build, FTX)

  Re: Happy Birthday Disneyland!

(...) Man.... I guess I either have to repost this on July 17th or build something new between now and then! Disney must have picked May 4th as the start of their summer season more than the actual date of the aniversary. Summer long celebration (...) (21 years ago, 7-May-05, to lugnet.build, FTX)

  Re: Happy Birthday Disneyland!

(...) Great job! I just wanted to point out that, regardless of what the current Disney Company wants you to believe, Disneyland's birthday isn't until July 17th of this year. Opening day for the park was July 17th, 1955. Jason (21 years ago, 6-May-05, to lugnet.build, FTX)

  Re: Happy Birthday Disneyland!

Hello! That's cool. Congrats to this well done sculpture! When I saw this pic on BrickShelf I wondered: Hm, Mickey is older than 50. So now I'm informed. Bye Jojo (21 years ago, 6-May-05, to lugnet.build)

Re: New MOC - Giant cable-stayed bridge

(...) Oooh - a "mine is bigger than yours" contest! (Sorry, couldn't resist!). The design is different, but at our latest GETS show, NALUG's Laszlo Szojka showed a 17-foot bridge using a similar cable technique: (URL) quite the classic cable-stay (...) (21 years ago, 6-May-05, to lugnet.build)

  Re: Happy Birthday Disneyland!

(...) Wow!!!! Man o man, that is one fine sculpture. From the cake to Mickey's face and out stretched hands, you totally nailed it, WELL DONE!!!! I love this MOC and see absolutely nothing that needs improving. Janey "Red Brick" (21 years ago, 6-May-05, to lugnet.build, FTX)

(...) Amazing, Bill! You've captured the Mouse in perfect form. I'll be passing this post on to my wife to share at work (Disney). -Dave (21 years ago, 6-May-05, to lugnet.build, FTX)

BrickFest 2005 - Micro and Vig Contests

Hello all... Last year I had the pleasure of being the Micro Display Coordinator for BrickFest and this year I will be continuing that role. We have BIG plans for Micro this year! From a few sneak preview pics I have had the pleasure of viewing, I (...)   Happy Birthday Disneyland!

Disneyland just celebrated it's 50th Birthday! In honor of the grand-dad of all theme parks I put this together: (URL) Here's to 50 more! Thanks, Bill Vollbrecht P.S. This is also notable because I was FINALLY able to figure out how to post a (...) (21 years ago, 5-May-05, to lugnet.build, FTX) !!

Re: New MOC - Giant cable-stayed bridge

(...) Oh, but I digressed -- the answer to your question is "neither"... it's just studs-up. (21 years ago, 5-May-05, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: New MOC - Giant cable-stayed bridge

Re: New MOC - Giant cable-stayed bridge

(...) SNOT construction.(1) Turned sideways, presumably. See this (URL) LUCNY> thread on road building, for example. 1 - Studs Not on Top. Schleim is German slang for mucus. Blame J2 for popularizing it by making up T shirts... (21 years ago, 5-May-05, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: New MOC - Giant cable-stayed bridge

(...) Thank you for the kind words. I started pricing tiles for the roadway, and it looked like it was getting into several hunderd dollars, so I shelved that idea. You'll have to fill me in on what "schleim’ed" means! I dind't get any other pics, (...) (21 years ago, 5-May-05, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: New MOC - Giant cable-stayed bridge

Re: New MOC - Giant cable-stayed bridge

(...) So you're the genious who made it! Very nice! I've was looking at the pics you have up on (URL) BrickShelf> a few days ago and been wondering about it. Gotta few q's- About the roadway: will it be tiles or schleim'ed? Will you be posting more (...) (21 years ago, 5-May-05, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: New MOC - Giant cable-stayed bridge

(...) Duane- The funny thing is that cable stayed bridges are not "new". They've been popping up all over the world since WWII. They just haven't been as common in the US where our aesthetic sense in public works is always overridden to save a dime (...) (21 years ago, 5-May-05, to lugnet.build, FTX)
