  Bridge Study the 13th

October 13th, 2003 and here is Study 13. (URL) The rest of the photos are (URL) here> The only thing Study 13 shares with Study 12 is the deck. Study 12 was a disappointment. Unlike other bridges with an arch, Study 12's arch was a pain to design, (...) (21 years ago, 13-Oct-03, to lugnet.build, FTX) !!

  Re: Bridge Study the 13th

(...) I can appreciate the complexity of a curved bridge deck. There are many here in Houston (road bridges) and it's impressive to see them. Of course they are plate girder construction, but the girders are curved as well! (as opposed to a (...) (21 years ago, 13-Oct-03, to lugnet.build)

Adrian where's SDLUG?? I'm still waiting!! I'd like to get a chance to meet you & see these bridges in person. I've been able to track more San Diego AFOL's through SCLTC & Bricklink (not to mention getting hit on by one of the girls that works at (...) (21 years ago, 14-Oct-03, to lugnet.build, FTX)

  Re: Bridge Study the 13th

(...) All I can say is that somebody has WAAAAY too many 2x2 grey tiles. :) Very impressive! I like the detail you put into this. I'm no structural engineer like TJ but I can appreciate big detailed MOC's just as well as the next guy. :) The fact (...) (21 years ago, 14-Oct-03, to lugnet.build)

  Re: Bridge Study the 13th

(...) Thanks for the complements :) Creating that deck involved a lot of number crunching (a graphing calc w/ table function is very helpful!). It was finding the "right" radius values that was the tricky part. When the idea of doing this came to me (...) (21 years ago, 14-Oct-03, to lugnet.build, FTX)

A LUGOLA "chapter" (was Re: Bridge Study the 13th)

(...) Thnks for the bridge complement :) Now onto the San Diego LUG idea. At the last LUGOLA meet, we spoke about ideas of LUGOLA's future and one I've been thinking over for a while now is for SanLUG (as I call it) to be a LUGOLA "chapter". The (...)   Re: Bridge Study the 13th

(...) You mean all the black 2x2s? I only used 1428 of them; they're cheap. It was all those 1x1s in black, yellow, and light gray that cost me some bucks. (...) Thanks for the complement :) Adr. (21 years ago, 14-Oct-03, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: A LUGOLA "chapter" (was Re: Bridge Study the 13th)

I like the idea of calling it SDLUG better :) There are too many SANs, especially in California IMHO. Anyway, I think that would be a great idea, as it's difficult to get the San Diego folks up to LA more frequently. Does that mean all the San Diego (...)   Re: Bridge Study the 13th

Realy nice work, Adrian. My only comment: I believe that the bridge would look far more convincing and elegant when you taper the collums from the bottom towards the top instead of the other way round. Engineering logic predicts that you need more (...) (21 years ago, 14-Oct-03, to lugnet.build)
