You might be surpised by the number of people that think that Bionicle and
Galidor have nothing to offer the Lego realm.

Not really.  I've seen a lot of people voicing that opinion (and a lot
of them seemed to be complaining that it's a hot seller).

I find them to be an interesting challenge to incorporate into my creations.

I find them necessary for mine.  Seriously.  Not to steal your thunder
or anything, but I once built a 24" long oriental dragon for the sole reason
that the RoboRider head looked like a dragon snout, and I wanted to see what
it would look like as one.  Different pieces appeal to different people.  I
happen to find inspiration more easily in the odd mechanorganic Bionicle pieces.

I have begun to dig around to try and figure some of these methods out to
make my future creations better.  So many things to learn, so little time.

I'd suggest checking with the people in lugnet.build.mecha, since they
probably use all of the tricks you're looking for, and they've probably
invented at least half of them.

I just really like the StormTrooper minifigs, so I tend to place them in all
my militaristic designs as of late.

Ah, okay then.  So it wasn't just me.

These specific guns do not spin, but I have designed different ones that do.

Do they still use the same hub pieces?  Those, I believe, are what make
the look, since they look a lot more realistically designed than if the
barrels were all attached by bulky clip-plates.
