LEGO (SNOT) Mosaic: The Mad Hatter —Eric Harshbarger
Folks, A project more maddening than a Tea Party. A Studs-Not-On-Top Mosaic: (URL) me know what you think, eric harshbarger (22 years ago, 7-Dec-02, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.build.sculpture) !!

Re: LEGO (SNOT) Mosaic: The Mad Hatter —Adrian Drake
(...) Yikes. How many tiles did this monster take? I suppose you put a pretty good dent in the 1x2 black and white tiles stockpiles on bricklink, didn't you? great job Adrian -- (URL) (22 years ago, 7-Dec-02, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: LEGO (SNOT) Mosaic: The Mad Hatter —Alan Findlay
That's a really nice creation. Well done! But I'm having a lot a trouble fully understanding what it was that you did! Do you have more photos showing a wider variety of pieces as they were fitted together? I suppose because it's only in black and (...) (22 years ago, 8-Dec-02, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: LEGO (SNOT) Mosaic: The Mad Hatter —Eric Harshbarger
Alan, I added this pic as well: (URL) show a few plates and tiles. Between that image and these: (URL) not sure how to better illustrate how I made the mosaic. eric (...) (22 years ago, 8-Dec-02, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: LEGO (SNOT) Mosaic: The Mad Hatter —Alan Findlay
Hi Eric, My confusion arises from trying to reconcile this: (URL) this: (URL) first one seems to indicate that we are viewing the sides of tiles, plates and bricks. The second one seems to show the tops of tiles. So, is the mosiac pattern made up of (...) (22 years ago, 9-Dec-02, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: LEGO (SNOT) Mosaic: The Mad Hatter —Eric Harshbarger

Re: LEGO (SNOT) Mosaic: The Mad Hatter —Allister McLaren
(...) Didn't TLG themselves pick that one up? Anyway, very clever building technique Eric. It gives a much better look to the final picture than having them all the same way. Funny how both images are effectively the same resolution, yet the SNOT (...) (22 years ago, 13-Dec-02, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: LEGO (SNOT) Mosaic: The Mad Hatter —Eric Harshbarger
(...) LEGO contracted me to write the LEGO Mosaic program that is on their shop.lego.com website. While it is, in some ways, similar to my program, their requirements and specifications were very different than those of Pixelego (my program). (...)         Re: LEGO (SNOT) Mosaic: The Mad Hatter —Tobbe Arnesson
(...) It's not only the hatter that's mad... This is amazing, it's pushing the envelope for LEGO building! Best regards, /Tobbe (URL) SPAM when e-mailing) (22 years ago, 9-Dec-02, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: LEGO (SNOT) Mosaic: The Mad Hatter —William R. Ward
(...) Wow - that must have been quite maddening! Aren't you afraid of the parts falling out though? Did you consider using headlight bricks or an extra layer or something to hold the pieces together? Or is the friction and weight enough to prevent (...)          Re: LEGO (SNOT) Mosaic: The Mad Hatter —Eric Harshbarger
as long as I don't drop it or tip it forward, the pieces will remain intact. for travel/public display I plan to lay a 1/4" piece of plexiglas over the front. eric (...) (22 years ago, 20-Dec-02, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: LEGO (SNOT) Mosaic: The Mad Hatter —Mark Neumann
Eric, awesome job! If I'm understanding all the posts correctly, this could be a jigzaw puzzle, right? The image is just made up of lots of smaller, and not really connected, parts? That is sort of scary. Of course you could make it into a big (...) (22 years ago, 20-Dec-02, to lugnet.build.sculpture)

Re: LEGO (SNOT) Mosaic: The Mad Hatter —Eric Harshbarger
well... a puzzle with thousands of pieces. many of the 'pieces' are simply 1x1 tiles on their sides and such.... they are just stacked next to one another... not really connected. eric (...) (22 years ago, 20-Dec-02, to lugnet.build.sculpture)
