yeah, the proportions are a bit off. I kinda ran short of red to even it
out.

I want the millenium falcon, very much so... and you'r right, the cockpit
would match well

sadly the collection I can get to right now is very scarce in the white
dept.... it's overwhelmingly grey and black

I can't believe I didn't think of that! I've got a couple of those... when I
have a lot of time again, maybe I'll do a rebuild...

the tail sections are actually plates layered over a double technic beam...
although I just realized (literally as I am typing this) that I forgot to
pin the beams together... that alone would help a lot, but I also need to
improve the connection that exists to the body (it is probably the single
weakest part of the model). the rest of the model has a fair bit of technic
in it. the topside plates have technic beams on the underside edges so that
half-pins can be used to attach the side panels. likewise on the bottom...
there's a lot of technic inside, but nothing near a full internal
structure... I need to get to the rest of my collection for that...

I didn't like the emergency transformation at all. I didn't like the jet
conversion either. that's why I stuck with it in it's original form...
something about the propellers really appeals to me.

somebody beat me to the little bitty one (I think it was about 12 studs
long... don't remember exactly.) actually I considered minifig scale, but
realised that 1) I'd need all 60+ gallons of my collection to even consider
it, 2) it'd be the ugliest rainbowed MOC ever, 3) it would almost certainly
collapse under it's own weight.

I might do that, I'll add it to the list of stuff to include in a rebuild

that's really cool. I particularly like the railroad track to recreate the
spinning ring. I haven't really looked much at the other airships... I just
really like the highwind... it has that certain style that just sticks in my
brain...

you are more than welcome, and thanks for the tips, they'll definitely come
in handy in the future.

| Hi Anthony, Ah, the Highwind. I remember trying to build it maybe five or six times back a few years ago, and your problems sound all-too-familiar... I really like the model, it's better than any version of the Highwind I'd ever built. If you do (...) (22 years ago, 15-Sep-02, to lugnet.build)
