Hmmm...
My personal suggestion: start with a rough sketch, then try to detail it a
little; once you decide exactly how the ship will look (measurements, detail
level), choose the construction type (modular, layers, all-in-one).
If you choose modular, start with L-draw (no need to place all the details)
to have an idea what you'll need *in each module*; if you'll build by
layers, some rough calculations might do the trick for the parts you'll be
needing; if you choose to build it all at once, as a huge single structure,
then start straight with the parts (and change as you progress).
This is how I'd do, and for such a big ship I would probably choose modular
construction. But I must say, I never attempted anything like it (so my
guess is just a wild one, which I base on the amount of work it would take
to do the whole ship in a single L-draw file).
Good luck for your ship! (Which one will it be, BTW?)
