You can get LEGO weight elements (9936) from Pitsco. Very handy. Also, the
counterweight doesn't have to go below the bridge - you can use cables with a
pulley system, or something like this bridge at Constitution dock
http://www.adagiomarine.com/year2001/images_hobartdocks/F00012.html. I wish I
had a better shot of this - the bridge is in the bottom right, the
counterweight is the large concrete block at the top of it - traffic passes
underneath this.

| (...) LEGO weights are great but can cost some bucks, $4.95 a pair (2K2 catalog) and that excludes shipping. (Save the money for Technic beams) Low cost alternative, and I've heard the train guys mention this, roll of pennies. Just make a container (...) (23 years ago, 28-Mar-02, to lugnet.build)

| Hi all, I am currently building a small drawbridge for my train using Technic elements, but I came across a difficulty which I was not expecting to be so problematic: the need of a "counter-weight". I did know I was *probably* gonna need one. And (...) (23 years ago, 28-Mar-02, to lugnet.build, lugnet.trains, lugnet.loc.pt)
