Well, actually, there is a 2 x 2 brick with an axlehole in the center of
the stud side:
Brick 2 x 2 with Pin and Axlehole

Just put a technic 1 x2 beam on the pin and it becomes 2 x 3,
unfortunately.  Maybe you'll find it useful anyway.

Does anyone have a good scheme to attach two 2x2 bricks back-to-back
(i.e. stud sides facing away from each other). I am looking for a way • to
have them seamlessly mated together. For instance if I use technic • pins,
there is a slight gap between the bricks. Ideally I would like to use • a
technic axle, but I don't think there are any bricks with a technic • hole
through the center of the stud side.

(...) That's a good suggestion, but the packaging unfortunately won't allow it. It needs to be 2x2. Thanks. (23 years ago, 27-Aug-01, to lugnet.build)
