The Brick Testament: The Philistines Have the Ark!

Over the past couple of weeks I've somehow been able to pull myself away from an ongoing (URL) friendly discussion and lively debate> with John Neal (and others) over in ot.debate long enough to create the first four stories for the newest section (...)   Re: London Opium Den

(...) Thanks (...) No idea what the Chinese word for those things is. (...) The topknot and queue was a nightmare to balance but I was so happy with how it looked I took the time (twice actually since the first time had a (URL) mistake>). (...) I (...)   Re: London Opium Den

(...) Thank you. (...) While I agree that a properly set up render could look excellent the problems with it are twofold: firstly the selection of minifig parts in CAD is very small and secondly with that much balancing there is no way people would (...)   Re: London Opium Den

Hello! Hey, I like that. Hrm, actually I don't, because I don't like drugs. But its' well built. The futon (? the couch, divan, anyway) looks great, and the chinese topknot is very convincing. It seems like you knew what you were doing here. (In (...) (18 years ago, 28-Oct-06, to lugnet.build.vignette, lugnet.castle, FTX)

  Re: London Opium Den

(...) Good stuff! The queue and topknot are outstanding. I'm glad you're building in the brick, but this seems like one of those scenes that might look better rendered with smoke and shadows and whatnot. Photographed LEGO always looks as bright and (...)   Halloween vig contest 2 entry - Tell-Tale Heart

  Re: Pyramid of Khafre

(...) Gary: I have no plans to tear those down (I would not want to get "Preservation Lego" on my case). I was actually refering to some other buildings of mine that are not based on any prototype but do use quite a bit of tan bricks. Niether of the (...) I agree Jim, It's not worth it to tear down your 2 Detroit Art Deco masterpieces, the David Stott Tower, and the Fisher Building complex! They're awesome! Gary Istok (18 years ago, 26-Oct-06, to lugnet.build.ancient, FTX)

  Re: Pyramid of Khafre

(...) Thanks for your comments! Since my Lego model of the pyramid is only 82 studs per side (and 41 bricks high) and the real thing has a base measureing 705 feet per side, I would have to scale it up by a factor of 8.5 in linear dimension to (...)   Re: Mech Bay 11

(...) Eric, I like this structure, as its a nice change from your usual subject of building. What you have going is a simple shape that dictates the entire structure, instead of a number of complex shapes competing with each other - you have those (...)   Re: Pyramid of Khafre

James, Truly inspirational, showcasing simplicity at its best. How close is it to actual minifig scale (one stud equals one foot)? I don't suppose you have a sphinx project underway? ;) Thanks for sharing! Magnus (18 years ago, 25-Oct-06, to lugnet.build.ancient, FTX)

  Re: Pyramid of Khafre

(...) Thank you for your comments. A Lego model of the Pyramid representing it soon after completion would probably consist almost entirely of white slopes with a red layer at the bottom (according to one Egyptologist). The very tip might be yellow (...) (18 years ago, 25-Oct-06, to lugnet.build.ancient, FTX)

  Re: Pyramid of Khafre

(...) Thanks for the comments. I would strongly recommend that you make the trip to 2007 NMRA. Are you a member of a Lego LTC? If not, I am sure we could work in some of your buildings into our display! -Jim (18 years ago, 25-Oct-06, to lugnet.build.ancient, FTX)

  Re: Pyramid of Khafre

Wow, excellent, Jim! A stunning likeness. The capstones just at the top gives it a very authentic look. And the ruins at the bottom give it increased presence. The inner passage construction is impressive too. For comparison, it would be nice to see (...) (18 years ago, 25-Oct-06, to lugnet.build.ancient, FTX)
