Re: Welcome to the Building Arena, IRON MECHA

My first attempt at a 'sketch' of sorts (experimenting with form & function only, not color): (3 URLs) Not sure yet if I'm overdoing the hip and underdoing the leg joints - this is only my second mech. But it's been fun playing with the idea in (...) (19 years ago, 6-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Thanks Bryce! I feel smarter just having check these out. :P I added your post to the "Inspirations" sub page of .mecha. Thank you for your contribution. Also, after looking over the page, (sheesh which we havn't added much to recently) I noticed (...) (19 years ago, 6-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Re: Welcome to the Building Arena, IRON MECHA

(...) Thanks! I've always suspected that the main .mecha worm gear builders were exploiting the gears to create the largest mecha the gears could support. After playing with a teknomeka frame, I discovered that there is a huge amount of articulation (...) (19 years ago, 6-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Various Interesting Mecha IRL type links

I don't know if anyone's seen these but figured I'd post them... Robotics enhanched walking/lifting (URL) "toy" obeys 40 commands at a cost of about 6-7K. It looks very "mecha" though.   Re: Welcome to the Building Arena, IRON MECHA

(...) That looks awesome Chris. Recently, I've been looking over your (URL) BS joint tech folder> for ideas. You're the only builder I know who has dedicated himself to creating compact geared joints. Hopefully, one day I will incorporate some of (...) (19 years ago, 6-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

Re: Welcome to the Building Arena, IRON MECHA

(...) <snip> So I've been doing a little building this week, and have come up with a few ideas. I figured quite a few people would be using those exoforce/knight's kingdom joints, and I wanted to do something a little more challenging: (2 URLs) I've (...)   Re: My meager attempt

(...) snip (...) We like tread feet! (...) If I might make a suggestion to you, Brian, it would be to swap the joint halves where the leg meets the start of the body. I usually put the rotational joint on the body instead of in the upper Leg. It (...) (19 years ago, 5-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: My meager attempt

(...) I'd be the last one to accuse anyone of plagiarism when it comes to Lego. It just seemed like the obvious thing to do, and it looks as if several other people have come to that conclusion independently of me. All of my ideas are (...) (19 years ago, 5-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: Drafting, Then and Now

(...) Sort of. I have a window office, but share a cube with someone else. I intended to do my office in detail, but found I couldn't do the level of detail that I wanted with the parts that I had (all new grays). I instead settled for the general (...)   Re: Joe Vig: Monkey See, Monkey Doo

(...) Thanks for the compliment! If I recall correctly, you posted your zoo series during the Joe Vig contest. The moment I saw them I thought of doing this. It took me a while to finish it, though, because of the rarity of round brown 1x1 plates (...) (19 years ago, 5-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.vignette)

(...) SNIP Fantastic vigs! I like how the old table is still (somewhat) adjustible. Nice touch! (...) Your 'Paper Jam' vignette is also very nice! Good Job on all! "Big Daddy" Nelson (19 years ago, 5-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.vignette, FTX)

  Re: Drafting, Then and Now

(...) Those were very cute! The choice of colour schemes to represent then and now are perfect! They remind me of metal office furniture from that era! Calum (19 years ago, 5-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.vignette, FTX)
