sorry i took quite so long to respond, but i have been assembling an army of minifigs and mecha to combat the other armies i've seen in brickshelf, and i hope to post soon(mwahahahaha) I'd be glad to give some feedback, as another b-tech loving mech (...) Never seen this before, but it looks like it comes in one of those designer sets. Instead of brick click hinge, it's a PLATE click hinge. LEGO is getting smarter! Yay! (URL) (21 years ago, 6-May-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

(...) I am not certain, but I think the first sets I saw with faces other than the standard yellow smiley were the first generation of Pirate sets (1989).
