I wonder, Bill, if you are thinking of the civilian CJ series. This MOC is of the military Jeep, where I do believe the flat hood is prototypical. This also explains the low door and high back, which is opposite to the arrangement on current (...) (22 years ago, 22-Jan-03, to lugnet.build.military)

The Pelican 3 is a heavily modified SeaPlane built to have all the comforts of home while you travel the world. The discovery wings channels had a special about flying boats all last week and i just had to build one. Thankye! I had originally set out make this a large artillery piece with the platform encasing a large weapon of some sort with a slight offset to the other side. You got it.... a bulldog was invovled in the inspiration! The troop platform of the Normandy landers does have an influence here as well.
