Re: Chrysler Building - My Version

Funny you should mention GCT, Jonathan... I tried it once after seeing it in the Ultimate Lego Book... and gave up. Seeing Chrysler in the Book and then in person at the TRU in Times Sq. was the true impetus... I sat down one night and measured out (...) (22 years ago, 16-Aug-02, to lugnet.build)

Re: My first mech ever, be gentle :)

(...) Pretty sweet looking, somewhat like a BattleMech from Mechwarrior. (think Hollander) The head could use a little work, but i like the Claws. Perhaps narrowing the torso would be good, too. (...) That's always a plus. I rebuilt my Atlas (see my (...) (22 years ago, 16-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: A-10 model in the brick!

I should have posted this sooner, but I'd like to say that Bryan did a fantastic job on the A-10. Mark is absolutely correct in that Bryan had only simple jpeg screenshots to aid him in the building of his model. I'd have been impressed with how (...)   My first mech ever, be gentle :)

I've finished my first complete mech in mlcad. Tough it still needs some work, I am not super happy with the head and hands. But I think one can always keep tweaking a mech :) I've got 5 pictures (combined 500KB) at my site: (URL) me know what you (...) (22 years ago, 15-Aug-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: SNOT Fractional Offsets

(...) I did a little digging. The builder I was thinking of is Tony Hafner, and he provided a nice description of the technique: (URL) (22 years ago, 15-Aug-02, to lugnet.build)

  Re: SNOT Fractional Offsets

(...) I was perusing the parts catalogue after my post, and I hit on this same idea. I'm planning on trying these two methods after work (bracket and 1x1-with-side-loop), and I'll report back on how they fare. Keep the ideas coming! -s (22 years ago, 15-Aug-02, to lugnet.build)

  Re: SNOT Fractional Offsets

Hi Shaun - Wow, pretty advanced stuff. I think I learned some new techniques from your original post - thanks! I'm at work and don't have any pieces in front of me, but I'll try to address your questions... (...) 0.25? Not any way that I know of. (...) (22 years ago, 15-Aug-02, to lugnet.build)

  Re: SNOT Fractional Offsets

(...) 1/10 (...) As a followup to my own inquiry, is the bracket on the "1x2 plate w/ 1x4 bracket" ((URL) 1/10 of a stud thick? An easy way to check this would be if the bracket, plus one plate, plus one tile is the same thickness as a brick is (...) (22 years ago, 15-Aug-02, to lugnet.build)

  Re: His Majesty's Cutter "Friendly"

(...) It's a whole new world to get used to, but I've been finding it progressively easier to get a handle on. (...) That's on the books for larger vessels. 'Friendly' is fitted out to handle that decking when I get my hands on more tan plating, but (...) (22 years ago, 15-Aug-02, to lugnet.pirates, lugnet.build.military)

  Re: His Majesty's Cutter "Friendly"

(...) An excellent opening salvo in the application of SNOT building to Pirate ships! I'm sure you're discovering a lot of the same things I did in my three SNOT vessels--especially the 6:5 ratio which will become firmly imprinted in your head as (...)   SNOT Fractional Offsets

All Right, I'm in the process of building a boatm using the now popular SNOT studs-out hull contouring approach. Given that a plate is 0.4 studs thick, one can get the following offsets pretty easily: -0.2 studs: use one of the 1x1 side-stud (...) (22 years ago, 15-Aug-02, to lugnet.build)

Re: Chrysler Building - My Version

(...) Very nice. BIG! Only a week? How long did you spend planning it? To bad there isn't a good source of bulk clear bricks. I'd really like to get my hands on a good quantity. I guess we could try to get some off the sculptures at TRU...no, that (...) (22 years ago, 15-Aug-02, to lugnet.build)
