Re: Machine Building Ideas Videos and Books

(...) Actually, you should look at just about any book by David Macaulay. Especially "How Things Work". (25 years ago, 17-Jul-99, to lugnet.build)

RE: Machine Building Ideas Videos and Books

Another really good book is "The Big Book of Things That Go" from Scholastic Press. I usually take my kids to the library so I can hang around the kids books without getting creepy looks from the other parents... Cheers, Ralph Hempel - P.Eng (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jul-99, to lugnet.build)

Machine Building Ideas Videos and Books

Many video tapes can give you building ideas for machines. Construction equipment stars frequently in videos. For example, bulldozers, backhoes, forklifts, tower cranes, payloaders, drag lines, dump trucks, and excavators move about under the (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jul-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: Smooth Plates

Robert, There is a MUCH better set for the tiles! The current 9V Level Crossing set, #4532, which is only $24 from Shop@Home. It has eight 1x8 tiles in white AND eight in gray. In addition, it has 4 of the large super low slopes in Gray, a gray 7 (...) (25 years ago, 17-Jul-99, to lugnet.build)

  Tiles (was Re: Smooth Plates)

Oops! How did I do that? Yes, I meant tiles, of course. The set 6584 has 14 1 x 6 *tiles* like I described, not plates. I must have read the subject line and got confused. (...) (25 years ago, 16-Jul-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: Smooth Plates

Re: Perfect cubes of LEGO (-:

(...) Check out the Homemaker sets (1974-1982), as they use tiles fo the countertops and tabletops (at least in my 2 sets they do). I've seen mostly red and white..... Charles (25 years ago, 16-Jul-99, to lugnet.build)

  Perfect cubes of LEGO (-:

I realize this might not be news to many of you but bear with me. I have just realized that the smallest perfect cube that you can make out of LEGO is 16 millimeters on a side. The best way to make one is a 2 x 2 tile (part 3068) on top of a 2 x 2 (...) (25 years ago, 16-Jul-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: Pat's new PodRacer...

(...) I have to admit that the engines of this ship (and pod racer) are very derivitive of the engines used on Sebulba's pod racer (in the Mos Espa Set). I did modify several things, but I can't take credit for incorperating 'those solid balloon (...) (25 years ago, 15-Jul-99, to lugnet.starwars, lugnet.build, lugnet.publish)

  Re: keeping models together

(...) You could try contact cement for that. My wife has this spray-can of contact cement that she uses often when she needs to join items without leave a big mess of glue. I have no idea what affect that stuff would have on any of the plastics and (...) (25 years ago, 15-Jul-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.build)

Re: Anybody ever built weapon replicas?

I build a lot of future military stuff, such as laser cannons, mech's, missile trucks, and the like. I just use the normal bullhorns and other Lego pieces for weapons. Scott Sanburn (...) (25 years ago, 15-Jul-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: keeping models together

Re: New N/C Machine First Cut
