I realize this might not be news to many of you but bear with me.
I have just realized that the smallest perfect cube that you can make out of
LEGO is 16 millimeters on a side. The best way to make one is a 2 x 2 tile
(part 3068) on top of a 2 x 2 brick (part 3003) on top of a 2 x 2 plate (part
3022).
16 millimeters is an ideal size for making assembly puzzles out of cubes, such
as the SOMA cube design (a Danish invention by the way :-) or the analagous
puzzle made from pentacubes (which is actually available from Germany, I forget
the name)
So, has anyone used LEGO for this or am I the only one?
And, more to the point I guess, where can I get a lot of 2 x 2 tiles?

| (...) Check out the Homemaker sets (1974-1982), as they use tiles fo the countertops and tabletops (at least in my 2 sets they do). I've seen mostly red and white..... Charles (25 years ago, 16-Jul-99, to lugnet.build)
